Season 1, Episode 19
We had left off with Krystal Sullivan driving on the east side of Labrador Falls. She was looking for the home of David Jenkins, who had been involved in a bad car accident.
His dog Rex was missing among the confusion in the aftermath of the accident. Jenkins had been treated and taken to the hospital and could not look for his dog himself.
Krystal, a nurse who had helped those at the accident scene, promised to look for Mr. Jenkins’ dog. She had searched the surrounding area with no luck.
The only thing she could think of was to search near the man’s home. Perhaps Rex would recognize where he was and make his way home.
Meanwhile, Al and Sandy Johnson had just arrived home in their SUV with their dogs, Tillie and Rover. They had been to the Labrador Falls Dog Park when the rainstorm came.
They gave a ride to their friends, Ben and Debbie Meyers, who lived close to the dog park and had walked there with their dog, Chloe.
Now the Johnsons were home and getting themselves and their dogs dried off. The hour was getting late and they wanted to go to bed.
Al Johnson decided it would be a good idea to take the dogs out in the back yard one more time to do their business.
Once outside, it was quiet except the occasional drop or two of rain falling from a tree or rooftop. The dogs were still energetic from the chaos of the last half hour.
There had been a scramble to get to the cars when the rain started and they were traveling home with their fellow dog friend, Chloe until she was dropped off with the Meyers’.
Rover heard it first and started barking. Something was going on at the house next door to them on Elmwood Street. Al could not tell what it was.
The fence between them and their neighbor’s house blocked most of the view but he could see that there were not many lights on. It looked like the house was unoccupied.
Although crime in Labrador Falls was rare, one could never be too careful. Al decided to stay out and try to figure out what was going on.
He suspected neighborhood hoodlums out past curfew. Perhaps it was just kids out fooling around.
The sound he heard next made him stop dead in his tracks. Tillie and Rover ran to the fence and barked loudly. Johnson did not like what he had just heard…
