Last week, Mac turned 5 months old. Dad put him on the scales and he weighs the same as I do – right about 50 lbs. It’s really no wonder he caught up, considering he eats twice as much as me and poops twice as much too!
The scary part is, he shows no signs of slowing down and is still very much a puppy. He has been going to the dog park with Dad and me just about every day. He is getting better at socializing but is still a little intimidated by dogs who want to play with him.
He recently met a friend who he seems to get along with pretty well. Her name is Samantha and she is 9 months old. I like it when Mac and Samantha play with each other because that allows me to play fetch with Dad without too much interference from Mac who is always trying to cut me off before I can get all the way back to Dad for another toss.

The last couple times Dad has forgotten to bring a ball with him and there have been no balls when we get to the dog park. He has tried to make do with sticks but they don’t bounce like a ball and I like to chew them into pieces. Balls are way better.
It’s been a good thing that Samantha has showed up because her owner brings a Kong that is almost as much fun as a ball to fetch. In fact it’s more of a challenge because it bounces unpredictably.
Anyway, I just wanted to give you an update on Mac. Since we weigh about the same, we have some pretty even wrestling matches these days. I’m afraid that’s not going to last much longer. I’m going to have to rely more on my speed and craftiness to counter Mac’s size and relentless puppy energy.
I wanted to let everyone know this in case you don’t hear from me anymore. If so, you’ll know that Mac got hungry and ate me as a snack!
By the way, I just got started on my first few episodes of my doggie soap opera called As the Tail Wags. I hope you like it. I’d like to get some of your feedback.
