Season 1, Episode 9
We were at the Labrador Hills Dog Park when Fantasia, the yellow lab, made her appearance and proceeded to walk around the entire fence of the dog park until she caught up with Rover. She had asked Rover if it was okay to hang out there with him and he was flattered to be asked.
Rover was curious about Fantasia since he noticed that she never really played with any of the other dogs at the dog park. She got plenty of attention, especially on arrival, but it seemed as though other dogs were intimidated by her.
When Fantasia began to talk to him, Rover realized that she was very lonely and was not particularly fond of the attention, at least the kind of attention she was getting.
“I’ve been coming here for a few years now and everyone treats me like royalty,” Fantasia explained, “but nobody knows what I’m really like or who I really am. They think I’m some kind of flirt and don’t want anything to do with me.”
Season 1, Episode 8
When we left off, we had met most of the characters in our As the Tail Wags story. Most were still gathered at the Labrador Falls Dog Park.
Chloe has told her friend Tillie that she’s about to have puppies. Tillie has offered support and advice to Chloe but also wants to get back to talking to her boyfriend Rex.
Although Tillie lives with Rover and is next-door neighbors with Rex, she and Rex rarely get to see each other except at the dog park. Chloe’s boyfriend Samson got into a fight and was asked to leave the dog park. Chloe is struggling to tell Samson the puppies she’s pregnant with are not his.
Samson’s friend Tito ran off when Samson got into the fight. He was at the opposite end of the park on the north end when he was yelled at by Muffin who was standing in the small dog area.
Season 1, Episode 7
When last we checked in, Chloe was just about to tell Tillie something very important about her pregnancy and its effect on her boyfriend, Samson.
“Here’s the situation. I don’t have a problem telling Samson I’m going to have puppies. I have a problem telling Samson the puppies aren’t his,” said Chloe.
“Not his? You mean he’s not the father?” asked Tillie.
“Not likely,” replied Chloe.
“Wow, this is getting pretty juicy! What makes you think Samson isn’t the father?”
“It’s my owners. Ben and Debbie wanted me to have puppies, so a few weeks ago they ‘arranged’ for me to meet a border collie just like me. They have it all down to a science and the puppies are almost certainly going to be border collies, not border collies with Doberman,” said Chloe, hoping she wasn’t dumping her problems on Tillie.
Season 1, Episode 6
Last time we met, Chloe and Tillie were in the middle of a discussion about Cloe’s impending motherhood. Chloe was nervous and scared. She was seeking advice from Tillie on the mothering experience. She also had an issue with regard to her boyfriend, Samson.
“Have you said anything to Samson yet?” Tillie asked Chloe.
“No, I haven’t,” replied Chloe. “And I don’t know how I’m going to tell him.”
“Well, just tell him he’s going to be a father,” said Tille, matter-of-factly.
“I wish it was that easy,” responded Chloe.
“It should be easy. Unless there’s more that you haven’t told me…” said Tillie, her voice trailing off.
Season 1, Episode 5
At the dog park, the big commotion had calmed down and things were getting back to normal. However, Chloe did not seem to be getting calmer. She was talking to Tillie when suddenly she began to cry. “Can you leave Chloe and me alone for a few minutes, please?” Tillie whispered to Rex.
Rex was not one to get into girlie drama so he was glad to go wandering off. He quickly found a pack of dogs who were playing ‘chase-the-dog-who-just-caught-the-ball’. He joined in as if he had been part of the proceedings all along.
“What is it, Chloe? You seem really upset!” Tillie spoke to Chloe.
“I guess it’s apparent that I am, “said Chloe. “Tillie, I don’t have a lot of friends but I feel like I can talk to you. I’m going to tell you something I haven’t told anyone yet.”
Mac at 5-months-old
Charlie at 2 years, 3 months
Last week, Mac turned 5 months old. Dad put him on the scales and he weighs the same as I do – right about 50 lbs. It’s really no wonder he caught up, considering he eats twice as much as me and poops twice as much too!
Mac’s Birthday Card
Season 1, Episode 4
Things started heating up at the Labrador Falls Dog Park. A couple of dogs had gotten into a fight. “Well that’s no surprise. It’s Samson mixing it up again,” said Tillie to Rex as most of the dogs, as well as their owners, rushed to the southeast corner of the dog park where the fighting was going on.
A big cloud of dust was forming and excitement was in the air as two dogs were growling and wrestling with each other. Fortunately they were both about the same size and did not hurt each other before people could intervene.
“That’s at least the third time this month he’s been in a fight,” said Rex. “I think they should kick him and his rich owner out of here for good!” Rex did not usually get so animated but he did not care for Samson and had had his own run-ins with him.
