Miscellaneous Things in the Dog World

As the dog days of summer wind down, here are a few thoughts that I have pondered lately…

  • Almost missed National Dog Day. They didn’t seem to do much to promote it. I think it came and went without many people (or dogs) noticing. Is it an annual thing? I had never heard of it before. Nowhere near as much publicity as Shark Week.

  • Dad got me some business cards from ABC Printing here in Englewood, FL. Thomas did a pretty good job setting them up and printing them. I’ve passed a few out to my dog park friends.

  • We are all saddened to hear that Grandpa Cliff is really sick. Please say a prayer for him if you can. He always liked to give Mac and me samples while he ate his food.

  • I had a really good time at the dog park the other night. Our neighbors on 10th Street brought a kiddie pool and filled it with water. They have a yellow/white lab named Sim who is a pretty 8-month-old adolescent. She and I took turns laying down in it. Dad was amazed because I was able to retrieve the tennis ball countless times without getting tired. That’s because I kept getting cooled off.

  • Earlier we met a really nice owner named John who had a 13-year-old dog named Maury who reminded Heidi of her dog Phoebe.

  • We also saw the cutest golden doodle who was the same age as Mac, although about half his size.  Her name was Brook.

  • I’ve met several nice owners and dogs at the dog park so if you are a reader of my blog, I’ll try to give you a shout eventually. I’d like to take your picture to include with the story! Here’s some pictures of some of my friends. Jackie owns Cody. Debbie owns Jake and Pepito. A couple weeks ago Debbie came with all three dogs and Dad took some pictures. Lately Jackie has been coming with all three dogs while Debbie is away.

  • I’m thinking about developing a doggie soap opera. Just like humans, it will have lots of juicy stories of intrigue, lust, deceit and all the elements of a good soap opera, but with dogs instead of humans. I’m taking suggestions for titles such as The Guiding Bite or The Hungry and the Restless or As the Kennel Turns!

  • Grandma recently got my dimensions so she could make me something I can wear. I hope it’s not too girlie because I’m kind of a tom boy!

  • If my blog gets a little more popular, I might create a new Menu Tab called Local where we focus on some of the local businesses. They have a lot of fine dog-related businesses around the Englewood-Venice area.
